El puente, llamado el Puente Aizhai, tiene una suspensión extra grande y unirá dos túneles con sus 1.176 metros de largo a 355 metros sobre el Cañón de Hunan Dehang.
Una sección clave de la autopista Jishou-Chadong tiene 64 kilómetros pasará por el puente con dos vías para los coches, mientras que la autopista es de cuatro carriles para motocicletas.
La estructura se apoya en una base de 24,5 metros de ancho y está diseñada para soportar velocidades del viento de alrededor de 80 kilómetros por hora. La autopista atraviesa 18 túneles en total, que se cubren aproximadamente la mitad de su longitud.
La construcción del puente comenzó en octubre del 2007, sus secciones principales se completaron a finales del 2011. El puente se abrió temporalmente a los peatones durante la temporada navideña y el Festival de Primavera en febrero del 2012.
El puente está diseñado para ayudar a aliviar el tráfico en la región montañosa, donde los atascos son comunes debido a su estrecho escarpado y carreteras sinuosas.
El puente también tiene 1.888 lámparas para aumentar la visibilidad durante la noche.
